Sandy Wellmann

My name is Sandy Wellmann, and I am the new Algebra II and Geometry teacher at Sonora High School. This is my second year teaching at Sonora ISD, and I am extremely excited about this new journey. I am also the head softball coach as well as the assistant volleyball coach. I grew up in a small town in East Texas called Kilgore with my mom, dad, and sister. Upon graduating from high school, I spent one year at Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX. While attending college at ASU, I was also a member of the university's softball team. After completing my freshman year of college, I decided to transfer to Texas Tech University to continue my education and softball career at the Division I level. In May of 2012, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sport Science. I then decided to continue my education at Texas Tech by earning my Master of Science Degree in Exercise and Sport Science (May 2014). After completing my senior season of softball, I married my husband in the summer of 2013! While finishing my Master's, I became the Graduate Assistant Softball Coach at Texas Tech University, where I held the position for one year. I was then promoted to the Volunteer Assistant Softball Coach at Texas Tech the following year. After the 2015 softball season came to a close, I decided it was time to start a new chapter in my life where I could mold children and help them become thriving members of society. My husband and I have found our way down to Sonora, where we plan to stay for quite some time.
